FD30 Fire Doors — Supplied and Fitted to Certification

When a door has to hold back fire for 30 minutes, the paperwork matters as much as the door. We supply and install FD30 fire-rated doorsets manufactured by Future Products Ltd, certified as complete assemblies, and we fit them exactly to the manufacturer's specification so the certification stays valid.

What FD30 actually means

FD30 is a fire-resistance rating: the complete doorset is tested to resist fire for 30 minutes. The rating applies to the whole assembly, not just the door leaf. That means the frame, hinges, intumescent seals, letterplate and self-closing device all have to match the tested specification. Swap one component for a cheaper equivalent and the door is no longer FD30.

The doors we fit

We install the SolidCORE FD30 range from Future Products Ltd. According to the manufacturer, these doorsets are built around a 48mm solid core with fire-resistant construction and intumescent seals, independently tested to provide a minimum of 30 minutes of fire and smoke protection, and available in a choice of 18 door styles.

Lead times from the manufacturer are currently around five working days, so a fire door replacement doesn't have to mean weeks of waiting. We'll confirm the current lead time with your quotation.

Certified doorsets, and the label that proves it

Every doorset we fit carries the manufacturer's certification label on the door edge, showing the FD30 rating and a unique certificate reference. That label is your evidence that the door is what it claims to be, which is why it must never be painted over, moved or removed. We photograph the label on completion and pass the certification documentation to you, so you have a clear record for your fire risk assessment or managing agent.

Photographic evidence on every fire door we fit

A fire door is only as good as its installation, and most of that installation disappears behind the architrave. So we photograph it. On every fire door job we take at least fifteen photographs: the opening before we start, the fire-rated expanding foam and fire-rated mastic going in, the fixings and perimeter seal, and the finished door inside and out from several angles, along with the certification label.

You get the full set on completion. If your fire risk assessor, insurer or managing agent ever asks how the door was installed, you can show them rather than take our word for it. Very few installers will hand you that, and it's the difference between a door that looks compliant and one you can prove is.

Who needs one

Flat entrance doors, communal stairwell doors, HMO bedroom doors and doors between an integral garage and the house typically require a fire rating under Building Regulations Part B. Landlords and managing agents of blocks also have duties under the Fire Safety (England) Regulations, including regular checks of flat entrance doors. If you're unsure what your building needs, your fire risk assessment will say.

How we install

Certification only holds if the door is installed the way it was tested. We fit to the manufacturer's installation specification, using the specified fixings, packers, perimeter seals, fire-rated foam and mastic, and ironmongery, and we don't substitute components to save time or cost. If a door can't be fitted compliantly in the opening you have, we'll tell you before we quote rather than after.

Finishes

With 18 styles in the SolidCORE range, plus a choice of colours and glazing options, a compliant fire door doesn't have to look institutional. We'll bring options to the survey so you can see what suits the property.

Who we work with

We supply and fit FD30 doors for homeowners, landlords, HMO operators, managing agents and blocks of flats across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes. For multiple units we can phase the work to keep disruption to residents down.
